Capital Signal docs

What the data holds, how to connect your AI tool, and what every tool does. For the interactive setup tabs, go to /connect. For agent-readable setup instructions, /agents has the same guide as plain text.

What's in the data

Capital Signal holds every ASX company announcement since 2018, turned into structured data. Each figure links to the filing it came from.

  • Capital raises: placements, SPPs, entitlement and rights issues, and convertibles.
  • Guidance changes.
  • Director and insider trades.
  • Substantial holders and their movements.
  • Cash and runway, read from quarterly reports.
  • M&A and takeover activity.
  • Mining projects and drilling results.

Every row carries its date. Results also carry dataAsOf and possiblyStale: if possiblyStale is true, or dataAsOf is old, the figure predates the latest filing.

See it on a company page: BHP, PLS, or AUC.

Set up your AI tool

Local server with an API key

Prefer the npm package, or using a client that cannot do remote MCP? Run capsig-mcp locally and give it a CAPSIG_KEY. Create the key in Settings; it is shown once.

Advanced: API key, local stdio server, cURLShow

1. Create an API key

2. Paste the command or config

Run this in your terminal:

claude mcp add capsig --env CAPSIG_KEY=PASTE_YOUR_KEY \
  -- npx -y capsig-mcp
Create a key in step 1 and it fills into the snippet above.

If you leak a key in a repo or chat, revoke it and make a new one in Settings, where you can also disconnect apps.

Tools

Each tool does one job. This list is generated from the server's own tool catalog, so it stays in step with what the connector exposes.

Search filingssearch_filingsFreeFull-text search across ASX announcement filings, returning snippets of what filings say - commentary, explanations and wording - rather than structured figures.
Company eventscompany_eventsFreeStructured history and numbers for one ASX company: capital raises, substantial holders, board changes, director trades, M&A, quarterly cash and runway, and guidance/trading updates.
Company profilecompany_profileFreeProfile of one ASX company: market cap and its date, sector, business description, operating projects with stage and commodities, latest cash position (with dataAsOf and possiblyStale), latest trading/guidance numbers, board and executives, tags, and its eight most recent filings with doc_keys.
Filing textfiling_textFreeFull extracted text of one filing, one section at a time, identified by a doc_key from a search result, profile or event row.
Company pricescompany_pricesFreeDaily closing share prices for one ASX company, up to the last trading day, for share-price history or a recent move.
Lookup companylookup_companyFreeResolves a company name or partial ticker ('Emerald Resources', 'Fortescue') to ASX symbols.
Capital threadcapital_threadFreeRaise lifecycles for an ASX company: every capital raise it announced, with announced vs completed amounts and both filings, and percent taken.
Find peersfind_peersFreeComparable ASX companies for one company: same GICS sub-industry (widening to industry, then industry group, only when fewer than 3 match; each row says matchedOn), market cap within 0.1-10x, ordered by size proximity, each flagged for a raise in the last 12 months, M&A involvement and cash runway.
Market screenmarket_screenFreeMarket-wide or sector screen on one dimension in a single call: named mining projects, enterprise value, cash and funding, M&A activity, capital raises, substantial-holder moves, insider trading, or company updates (guidance/buybacks/trading updates/distress/consolidations).
Event studyevent_studyFreeBacktest of an event pattern in one call: events defined as in market_screen, forward share-price returns at each horizon, hit rate, and the same against a benchmark, plus the 5 best and 5 worst cases with docKeys.
Market pulsemarket_pulseFreeCounts and dollars over every row in a window, grouped by sector or industry group x week or month, for 'what is the market doing' questions by sector or over time.
Person profileperson_profileFreeOne person - director, chair, CEO, CFO or company secretary - resolved across every ASX board they have sat on since 2018.
Board track recordboard_track_recordFreeEach current director (chair first) of one ASX company with their record at other ASX companies: board seats, completed tenures, median annualised share-price return vs CS200EW over completed tenures of a year or more (scoredTenures says how many; under 2 is an anecdote), outcomes (takeovers with premium, administrations, delistings), capital raised and dilution - and up to 10 of those tenures with docKeys.
Lock calllock_callFreeCreates a permanent, public record in the Capital Signal calls ledger: a call or prediction that anyone can read and that cannot be edited or deleted (a correction is a new call with supersedes = the old call_id).
CallscallsFreeLists locked calls from the Capital Signal calls ledger: each with tickers, direction, horizon, thesis, evidence doc_keys, base rate, sha256 and canonical JSON (sha256 of canonical = the hash; verify against /calls.txt), and, once its horizon has passed, its score (return, benchmark return, signed excess, hit).
Call scorecardcall_scorecardFreeOne author's record in the calls ledger: calls, scored, open, hits, hit rate, average and median signed excess vs benchmark.

Credits

Only search_filings costs 1 credit per call. Every other tool is free.

Check your balance from the credit pill in the top-right of any page, and manage keys and connected apps in Settings.

Read-only, except the calls ledger

Every tool only reads data, except lock_call, which writes a permanent public record to the calls ledger. A locked call cannot be edited or deleted; a correction is a new call that supersedes the earlier one.
